There are a lot of people out there trying to make a decision of which radio to buy and I'm sure they would love to know what everyones opinion is. Only include radios that you have used and have experience with and that are in production today. Since most of us don't have unlimited funds we want the most for our money so base your opinion on price as well as features. This is not scientific this is purely based on your opinion. |

well I recently acquired a titan II and I am more than impressed with it...the recieve is awsome and it talks well....If you are looking for a radio with out all the bells and whistles the titan is it. It is the most "bang for the buck" radio that I have ever owned |

Just 10 meter, huh? 'Cause I am familiar with a certain 6 meter mobile that's similar to certain 10/12 meter rig... Okay, my favorite is my HR2510. I like some of the features of the 2950dx and would have to get one if anything happened to the 2510 because of the (you guessed) limited funds as well as the availability issues. I hear those 2510's/Lincolns on SSB and have to say they sound better than any radio with SSB in their class. HR2510/Lincoln Znut |

WELL GUESS WE WILL GET THINGS STARTED! Shirley ~ 1st SARGANT: VOYAGE VR9000, Very good Stock Radio, Has all the features,Reliable, has been trouble free for me. Easy to use, Has a very reasonable price. I LOVE IT. Tech808 RANGER 2970DX MOBILE: VERY GOOD RADIO with built in amp, Kinda high to start with but then you do not have to buy an amp to go with it. Also covers 10-11-12 meters, I have owned one of these for over 3 years now and it was on most days 24hrs with over 150,000 miles a year bouncing around in our trucks when we were OTR Driving. I only had problems with it once and 307 fixed that for me. Well folks that is our picks. We have tried about every 10 Meter Mobile made over the years and these are what we are the happiest with. GEEZZZZZZZZ, I was editing my post when it got approved by the Forummaster. Now that is QUICK! The only problem with MY 2970DX was caused by my smoking 5 to 6 packs a day in the truck. It was not the radios fault! That much Nicotine coverd everything inside. Lon Tech808 |

Well from a ham perspective only, my vote for best 10 meter mobile would go to the Radio Shack HTX 100. Built by Uniden for R.S. in the late 80's/early 90's it was a good unit. Still have mine and it is going strong. The R.S. HTX 10 is ok. I have had 2 of these units. The first was a lemon from the word go. [R.S. actually replaced it with a new one] The second one is ok. Fits in a small car a little better than the HTX 100. Features are nice..am,fm, upper and lower sideband. All in all, ok rig. 73 de KB5LPA |

I like the Lincoln alot, but the Roadpro Titan II 485 and its clones in the 100 dollar range are (were) such a great value.(They are getting hard to find) The Lincoln is the better radio,IMO, but I dont know if it is 150 dollars better. |

I agree with Znut,I have had 3 2510's and 1 Lincoln which I am using now, and you just can't beat 'em on ssb.If someone was lookin for a radio without all the bells and whistles of the Galaxy's and Rnger's and what not, the Lincoln\HR2510 are well worth the money. And they talk just as good as any radio out there. JMHO. 431 |

Copper made a good choice in the Mag 257! For what i do on 10 meters THAT serious of radios are #1. I bought 10 Titan 485's for our 10 meter group everyone loves them Stock out of the box .3UV on FM and we paid right at 100 dollars each with shipping. They lasted through the florida winter and 190 deg in the car summer and no failures yet. I had a marage 2950 ranger 2950 and 2950 dx got rid of them on FM they are so-so ok. NOW the ranger 5054 6 meter radio i like it is very nice for the $300 range. Again good choice copper good radio. Bruce |

Here's what you do.... Get a Lincoln and be done with it. Put a Black D104 handheld and that's it. Only problem with the Lincoln was that I had to get it overseas, DHL was abour $40 to ship,.... it's worth it though. XLAXX |

Ryan It gets to 190F in your car in the summer here Ill bet in the north east you car never goes over 120F. Now winter is diffrent we have 1 day of fall 2 days of winter and one of spring. The rest is summer. Its 65 deg here in tampabay at sunset too cold to do anything but stick by the fire drink my ice tea watch the cold through the window and think of the nice beaches that are 4 miles from here. I just cant wate for 95 f at 80% humity.....YEP Cant wate for summer to get back!..... NOT |

Why does the Realistic HTX-100 look so much like an HR 2510? |

Basically, these two units are the same radio. The Shack had their production models made unmodifiable. The HTX 100 is a cw/usb only. No roger beep , tuning steps are different, other than that, the same radio. Good units, both.A schematic of both is in an Artsci modification book...same board. 73 de KB5LPA |

If you can find one get a AR Ranger 33 or a 3500 either the 100 watter or the 30 watter. Both of these radios kick A$$ big time with tremendouse amounts of audio! Be forewarned! The radios are NOT made anymore and parts are kinda scarce (not impossible to find but just kinda scarce) but if you can find one that is in decent shape and you find another one get both!! Keep one as a everyday radio and another as a back up parts rig!!! |

If you want FM only the alinco 03 radio which is no longer made is the hotest reciver ive ever tested .1UV break squlch. It is also one of the smallest. The alinco dx-70 ( 160-6 meters ) on 10 meters will hold its own with anything and some of the older ones with the 20 watt 6 meter transmiter are still being sold now for 600 bucks. The FT-840 is a great AM/SSB/CW radio but the FM adaptor is at best a add on. Bruce 29.60 FM 3:30 PM weekdays |

Another "set" that looks the same....Radio Shack HTX 10 and Magnum 257. I think the only difference is that Radio Shack put in an unmodifiable board in this one too??? I have heard that the guts of these radios are made by Alinco, but not too sure about that . 73 de KB5LPA |

FM on the 2510 is great. It is a little more sensitive than the 485 chassis, more selective and it has an auto squelch feature that is neat on FM. I believe this feature is intended for FM since it works best on that mode. |

Intresting all 10 of the 485 titans were .3UV or better right out of the box as for selectivy what kind of filter does it have? I added a channel guard at 10.695 and tinkered with the 455 khz filter but making it any tigher caused problems As for auto squelch i ve seen other radios with that but dont own one Bruce |
