How is your moble set up? i.e. what type of ant. how is it mounted and what power source are you using for the radio? We need to know this before we can answer your question. |

It's a simple fact that if the talkback is loud enough for YOU to hear, it's loud enough for a MIKE to hear. The only way to get loud talkback without accoustic feedback howl is with an EFFECTIVE noise-cancelling mike. The mike can't really tell your voice from the speaker audio. It only knows how far away the sound is. That's why the real NC mikes have a rubber lip guard, to remind you it has to be plastered to your lips. If you hold it too far away, it becomes a VOICE-cancelling mike. A good NC mike like the Road King or Astatic 636L just can't hear the speaker very well, so long as the speaker is a few feet away. This assumes that your feedback problem is accoustic, coming from the speaker to the mike. There are other ways to cause squealing noises in your mike audio. If it ALWAYS goes away when you turn off the echo, your mike is not an EFFECTIVE noise-cancelling type. Stock mikes just don't work well unless the talkback is too weak for YOU to hear. That usually stops the accoustic howl noises. An added switch on the radio to turn off the talkback is a popular mod for folks who like power mikes. One other thing that makes the talkback switch popular is external amplifiers. Sometines, using an amplifier will cause the talkback volume to jump way up. There are other ways to fix that, but the switch is as cheap as that one gets. 73 |

Also when your Galaxy has had one of the "Supertunes/Megatunes" they run a wire directly from the voltage regulator to the final, when this is done it makes the talkback unusable because it's too loud. |

Just unhook the talkback. I never used one in my galaxys too much of a pain when i used a power mike. When i set the echo i just talk to someone i know and have them give me their "feedback"! LOL. |
