I have a 9000 and all i seem to get out of it for ssb power is 3 watts,when I whistle I get 10 topped off.Tried to ajust it vr wise and no diffrence??????HELP |

Most CB radios have modulation limit circuts built in to provent overmod. You could disengage the overmod protection but then you would probably sound terrible. A power mike would give you more average power. Perhaps it is your voice. SSB is voice driven rather than carrier driven. If your voice is on the low deep side you will probably get a good driven signal. If your voice is high pitched you will get terrible drive on SSB. If you have a high pitched voice try this. Put a small ceramic cap of low value across both leads of the mike element output. You might have to experiment a little bit with the value of the cap. This will shunt the high frequency output of the mike before it hits the radio allowing a more basey output from your mike. One precaution/warning....Do this modification at your own risk. It could void warranty. DE |

Re Road PS to my first post... Radio Shack and several others used to make mike equalizers which would allow one to fine tune their mike input for the best possible results. You might check around to see if Rad Shack or othr parties still manufacture them. DE |

I have a 575 m6 and It was fine ssb wise with my last radio,I was thinking about clipping it to find out if I could get moepower but I think I will keep trying |
