if you keep transmitting without an antenna, your radio wont squeal but it also would become useless since that blows out the finals. oh yeah, take that echo out. it really doesnt help your audio. if you want cheap echo, go to the local dollar store and get one of the big plastic microphone looking things with reverb springs and talk through that. they come in hot colors like pink orange and bright yellow good luck |

My boss puts those radios in the trucks. They dont recieve well even with a decient antenna/coax. The soundtrackers are even worse! Your squeeling may be caused by having the mic gain too high, not using a noise cancelling mic or you may need to put an external speeker somewhere where it wont feed the mic.Assuming you have talkback. |

A little more info would help us such as what type of truck, where the antenna's mounted, one or two antennas, factory coax or your own and what length. Typically the 29 LTD, ST, NW, all do pretty well. Some hack shops will "supertune" these rigs and that can cause squeals and overheating on the transmit side. These rigs do receive fairly well, but your antenna system may introduce another factor. Single antennas on one mirror or the other ARE directional. Typically a trucker wants to talk up and down the road. The antenna mounted on the passenger side is best suited for this as the antenna pattern follows the metal of the truck. When mounted on the driver side it's kinda like having your back to everyone to your left. Your whine in receive: Does it do this when the truck is off? Is your NB and ANL turned on? If so it's something electrical in the truck emitting interference and this can be a bear to correct. The culprit itself must be filtered. Poor grounding of the antenna mount can make it more subceptible to picking up these interferences. A single fine stranded 8ga wire from the mirror bracket direct to the frame with bare metal contact can sometimes help. If you need further help we can do it here or you can email me. |
