Hi, I have a LaFayette Transciever Tester. It was my dad's and I have found no instructions for it. It can check SWR/Modulation/RF power and a bunch of other things. What I am mainly after is the SWR part. There is a meter adjustment knob but I am not sure where it is supposed to be set to check the SWR of a radio setup. I believe that it is supposed to be turned all the way counter clockwise. Anyone with any info would be helpful. Thanks. |

to check swr put the adjustment knob all the way down put the meter in SWR and forward then adjust the knob up till you get full scale then flip the swr switch to REFLECTED ( or reverse ) and your done. look at the meter if it dosnt change you have a high VSWR if it falls all the way back you have a good match up to 1.5/1 is good match up to 2/1 not so good match and if you up at 3/1 it is too high VSWR meters are a good way to check to see the antenna is working. From MY own useage of them the BEST VSWR meters are thoes little cheep boxes with a SO-239 on each end and a meter in the middle so called troth line meters. For 20 bucks or so at EVEN 440 mhz they will work with fair results! get one that is medal not plastic. I have several of them some are 40 years old and when i checked them with a standard they were within 10% and if they get lost or you burn one up its a exsuse to order another one....maby nicer from coppers! |
