Guys, I'm looking at the price of the KLV 400 and am saying wow. thats a great price for a tube amp. I about to pick up an amp and i'm still in the debating stage. I like the klv 550, but I think a tube amp will be cleaner. Is it worth the extra cash and the loss of tube output for the meager gain in power? I've read the arcives and there's not much on the klv 400. I'd like the KLV 1000, but I now live in a "REAL" community and I can not bug the neighborhood with rfi. Also, there's a nice price jump going from the 400 up to the 1000. Exactly what is the price on the 1000? I know it's alot more than the 400 price tag. Another concern is no preamp on that klv400. Can someone convince me why I should spent more for the 550 and lose the tubes, or pop for that 1000 and get angry cursing neighbors at my door? Help! |

Given good care pills will last longer with less fade, and really if your radio is dirty your amp will be dirty, why would you want a dirty radio?I got a klv550 it's super, best amp for the money I ever owned you can't go wrong! |

I don't think Copper sells the KLV-1000... their neighbor HY does, and it's $499. I just won a KLV-350 on Copper Aution and I'm very satisfied with it so far! No complaints from me (it's tube type). I think Taz has that KLV-550, he could tell you more about it than me, but I do know RM makes a heck of an amp for an affordable price no matter which you get! Forummaster Note : Yes we do sell the KLV1000 and the KLV1000p and remember we will beat any published price as long as the competitor has the item in stock.

Well, don't let the pre-amp make the decision for you. I have found that unless condx is very quiet, it just brings the noise up with who your trying to pull out. Hardly helps at all.... That being said, I love my KLV550 I won of Copper auction. VERY clean (neighbor with TV antenna across the streat doesn't hear me either), and power per dollar can't be beat. But, now I find myself wanting a 1000p to sit beside the 550! |

The 550 is an extremly clean amp audio wise. It only bothers my neighbors on high with ssb cause I point it over his house most of the time. His house is right under my moonraker and decides to not pay for cable but pays for several various illegal items. My 550 has been mistaken most of the time for a tube amp because of the audio quality. Heck, a couple hams thought I was talking on a kenwood when on sideband. |

Forummaster, What does Copper sell the KLV-1000 for? I wanted one before and couldn't find them on the website, but I don't want to deal with HY... don't like them very much. (I'm not bad mouthing HY or anything, Copper is just my personal preferance...Great customer service!!!) |

atgrazi, We have been selling the KLV1000 for $549.99, but if you call our sales department and tell them about the competitors price we'll beat it.

Well, the klv550 does semm to get good reviews. I must confess, i'm still looking at that klv 400. The power is close to the 550, and oh do I love those glowing tubes. the $229 price isn't to shabby either. I'm starting to think that if I desire more output than the 400, I might as well go for the klv1000. I guess it is really comming down to the neighbors. note: My neighbors tv antenna will be at the same height as my antron and about 150 feet away, maybe less. That scares me a little as I'm the new guy in this neighborhood. |
