I wonder if there would be any interest creating a DX ring, a la chatroom style, for us avid DXers to log on and give live band activity reports. If I get enough positive feedback from this, I will do the legwork and supply the chat server. |

707, 27.385 LSB is my hangout as well. Look for me between 12:00 - 13:30 and 23:30 - 00:30 EST. Since 5/24 I have made contacts in 14 different states, using an A-99, my 2510 or G99, with absolutely NO help! I am having a blast over here! Steve 181 South Central PA |

Well, www.dxring.net is officially open. I plan to add a live streaming receiver set on 27.385 very soon, and presently am looking for short audio clips of your best DX grabs in Windows Media format for archiving on the site so others can hear "what it sounds like" where you live. Notice I am not soliciting that you record yourself making an "no-no" long distance contact. Only receive audio, please. If you need help in setting up a Windows Media recorder(it's free), drop me an e-mail at tedworld@webtv.net If you are already WMA savvy, then e-mail clips no larger than 200k or so, 11kHz mono, WM7 format to tedworld1@hotmail.com BTW, Forum Master, I would, with your permission, be glad to add a Copper banner or logo link to the site. Let me know.. |

707, Can these audio clips be in .wav format? Streaming audio huh? That's too cool! Can't wait to see/hear that! Steve |

Wavs are ok but too big. I only have a few gigs of storage for this purpose, plus wavs have to be completely downloaded before playing them, while WMP allows on-demand. You can go to this address: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/en/download/default.asp download Windows Media Encoder 7.1(free download) for whatever platform you are using, and it works just like any .wav recorder software, but keeps the files small. Use the 28.8 setting and make sure you set it to store an archive file. Thats what will play on Windows Media Player. The software has a Wizard that walks you through all the settings, no sweat, very straightforward. If you must send .wav files, record them at 11kHz mono and then zip them before you send them to tedworld1@hotmail.com I'll make them into WMP, but it will take longer for them to appear on the site. Thanks for your interest! |

Thats no good..I don't know what to tell you, although with the luxury(?) of dual isdn here at the house, I have tested the access over dialup and with the exception of this afternoon for about one hour(freeserver prob) I have not had problems. I am the worlds worst access critic and basically am just trying freeservers to see if they can deliver. If not, I'll move the sites somewhere else. Waiting in the wings are dxring.com, cbring.net and cbring.com, depending on how freeserver delivers. We'll see.. Thanks for participating.. |

BTW- I am anticipating a good DX weekend, as I was able to QSO with several stations on the east coast, northeast, canada and down to the gulf with stock power on the infamous inverted L antenna this evening(6/8) because of a killer opening at about 730p CST, and even two contacts to NE canada with the Eagle Spitfire 454 running 6w ssb using same antenna and battery pack power. I'll be listening for ya'll on ch 38 lsb this weekend..gimme a shout |

wait..try this link http://www.dxring.net If you were trying the temp address at dxring.nstemp.net it wont work now. Other than that possibility, I don't know what to tell you. I can hit it and loads just fine from inside and outside. Is anyone else having trouble with it? BTW- today was pretty dead during the day here in south Texas, but lo and behold, after 830pm, things started picking up and was able to make several contacts to Tennessee. There seemed to be a "direct line" there. I did hear some traffic from Down Under on ch 36, 38 and 39 lsb around 6p but couldn't tell who they were talking to because of the fade. Also a brief period of heavy heterodyne from that direction it seemed for about 45 minutes, then quiet. I'll have the radio on 38lsb most of the day Sunday, so gimme a shout if you hear any Texas coming thru |

I thought you'd like it ;-) Please excuse the sparse link structure..more to come as soon as I finish evaluating potential info sites. I want to have the BEST info available for fellow DXers. No crap. BTW. I need a forum master for each section of the Corkboard. anyone who wants to take control of a subject may submit said desire to tedworld1@hotmail.com Maybe I could interest the Copper forum master in a little side gratis work??? |
