I have 2 of these power supplies, a PS-14KX which is powering my Lincoln, and a PS-26K that I want to power an amp.I would like to get everyones opinion on these power supplies. I'm not to sure what the PS-26K is rated at, but my friend told me 30amps? The 26K is about 8 yrs old but seems to work fine. The meter on the power supply goes to 30. So I'm guessing it is 30a surge. The 14KX is only a few months old. Any opinions??

What size amp?
You can probally get away with running a small amp like what Copper sells:

Thanx, guys....My friend ran a Texas Star-250 and a 148GTL on the PS-26K with no problem, so I figured I souldn't have any problems running an nice amp alone.

BE VERY CAREFUL! Pyramids are known to go psycho and blow up radios for no real reason they self destruct and take out anything thats hooks to them!! One of my radio buds lost his emp 5010, Icom 2 meter rig, 100 ch scanner, and his 12 volt freq counter! :-(

Hoosier, I have read that some people have problems with Pyramids, but I have had 3 different ones and have had NO problems what so ever with any of them. Now, the Victory, I had (PS-20)I used it for six months and had a nasty hum in my TX. What about the Triplite? I haven't heard anything about them. And do they make a power supply with meters? The reason I'm askin all the questions is in the not so distant future I may be in the market for a bigger supply, and am lookin for info on different supplies.

I've never had any problems with the pyramids, got two now, a 25 amp gold series, its good for 22 amps. The other is a 25 pyramid phase III, its good for 25 amps. The only problems I've had with about any power supplies is from lightning, it doesn't take much. I think the tripplite is right up with the astron, just doesn't cost quite as much. I don't like the switching type power supplies, they don't have a surge, whatever load they see when turned on is what they do. I had a 75 amp, but it wasn't much for amplifiers.

Dx431,

I have had Pyramid PS-25 GOLD Series for over 12 years and now have the Pyramid PS-52-KS / with Fan Kit, for a year now, which I use for bench work.

I have never had any problem with either and they are on 5 out of 7 days a week 24/5, Both have the meters and I run them set about 13.8 volts.

Both have worked well for me.

Just my thought's

Tech808, I had the Victory PS-20 and left it on 24/7 and it devloped a nasty hum after a few months, and it was brand new! Now, the Pyamids I have had, and the ones I have now, work fine.I'm not using it right now, but have tested amps and export radios with this amp with no problems.

Dx431,

I am currently running a Alinco DM 330. It is a 30 amp continuous, 32A surge. It has a lighted meter that switches from amps or volts. The voltage is varibale up to 15 volts. It is a switching type that has a small fan in the back that I cannot hear, no noise in the receive, etc.

I'm not trying to be a salesman for this unit. You said you were looking for input so here is another. I've only had it a few weeks but so far I really like it. Picked it up over the net new for $139 with no tax or shipping fees.
