Hey Its Mocassion...I HAve A Old Pure Steal Long Range Antenna Of my HH Cobra And Like The Base Of the antenna Is Like Dry rotted Or Something It Looks Like A little Slit... The Radio Works Fine But THe Only Thing wrong with It Is when i transmit The Radio Gets Hot.... I Want The Antenna.. They Do not make Them Anymore.... Any Advice

What is the VSWR? Maybe it needs tuning. Can you provied more details: installation, ect. |

As insider suggests if the SWR is very high, your coax is good, your connectors are good and you cannot tune the antenna then the antenna is scrap.
The new vertical antennas are much more efficient than the old metal antennas ever were.

Well he said the base is dry rotted so maybe it messed up the base. But check the base.

pre tuned was a sales gimmik,the antennas were very narrow banded typicaly 17,18,19,20,21,22.for best swr,now yur tokkin a rottin base,hang this thing on the wall for lookin at and get a wilson 1000 mag mount. |

I'm not familiar with that antenna. Can you try using another magmount base in place of the original? |
