IF YOU WERE GOING TO BUY A NEW RADIO, OF THESE TWO RADIOS WHICH YOU YOU PREFER TO GO WITH? I HEARD MIXED REVIEWS AND I THINK I TRUST YOU ON "COPPER FORUM" FROM ALL THE GREAT INFORMATION I'VE LEARNED FROM IT. ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED. THANKS! |

Ummm, the Galaxy 88 is made in Malaysia. 'Nuff said. All the Connex 4800 radios that I have seen say 'Made in Taiwan', and actually look like they were. Better quality control in Taiwan, statistically speaking.
There. I didn't say anything bad about either one. I just think they do a better job of Quality Control in their Taiwan plant.
Just the same, make sure the nuts holding the mike and antenna jacks are tight. Causes grief if either one works loose.

I used to have an 88 and compared to the 4800 I've heard that the 88 is a better radio just because I heard that 4800 drifts somewhat like the old galaxy 2100 but I could be wrong just like there are good radios and there are not so good radios. |

Ok, I have owned the GALAXY 88 and the CONNEX 4800 along with the VOYAGE VR9000. In my opinion there is no comparison.
My choice the VOYAGE VR9000 (EXCELLENT RADIO IN ALL ASPECTS!)
