Anyone ever heard of an export radio called a tristar 240...If so what can you tell me about it..I have looked on the net, but no luck....Thank you for any help, Tom Shaw

I remember it from about 10-12 years ago, a basic 3-or 4-knob AM/FM radio with extra channels. They were illegal to sell with all those channels and FM, and they hand't dreamed up the "10-MeterHam" loophole yet to sell them over the counter, instead of just under it. I don't think they sold all that many of them. Haven't seen one in years. And I don't think it looked like a Superstar 121 on the inside.

Remember in the mid 80's there was no 121.... it was the SS120 and the Tristar 120 and 240 (cheapie step children). The ss120 was a tough cookie...maybe the one you're thinking of. Hated to see them discontinue that rig as well as the 360.
Today's ss121 looks remarkably similar to that old Tri 240. It may use a diff board (I really can't remember specifically), but it's the closest thing to the tristar of yesteryear. Servicable radio *note* the SS3900 is worth every extra penny over the 121.
