Hello - I am looking to upgrade from my A-99 and everybody talks about the Imax 2000, Army Stick, Maco 5/8, ETC ETC ETC. I found this 3/4 wave antenna new for sale for $99 from another dealer. I know it is a remake of the original antenna. Is it any good? Does anybody use one? Does it bleed like my 99 does? Will I be able to see any difference on TX and RX with this antenna? SHOULD I ORDER ONE?? I live in New Orleans and we really do not have high wind so I do not think it will break. I was going to get a Maco and then a friend told me about this antenna...
Thanks

Hello.
I own a avanti version the original sigma 4 and it is a great antenna. I also had a Italian remake and it was a good antenna too but i sold it because i found the original avanti. Low SWR and little if any bleed. The old avanti ones are almost impossible to get anymore because Avanti didnt make very many of them. You could always get one of those new I-10K antennas but 250.00 IMHO is way too much money to spend on a simple groundplane antenna..

All i can tell you is that sigma 4 of mine works very very well. I only use it as a standby for my moonraker 4 beam and hardley talk off of it. I think its actually a .64 wave(along with the old Hy gain P-500) one of the best kept secrets in CB! ;-)
Maybe Marconi or Taz can chime up in here and tell you more about this stuff than what i know.

Hoosier 3/4 wave antennas would have a strange lobe but i see no reason why it would not work. Many hams run both 6 and 2 meters on the same antenna and 40 and 15 the same way Hey you might also start a new trend 30 meter ham /3/4 wave cb verticals a new rage! 199.95 from HOOSER INC.
