Is A Golden Falcon 400 Base Amp A good one? What kind of tubes does it take in how many? |

This along with many other older sweep tube amps were nice in their day. Today the pricing of sweep tubes makes them really not worth having unless you're a collector. For a daily user tube amp of low cost, the KLVs are the way to go. |

Bob: If its the Golden Falcon that I know about, it runs 4-8950 tubes, 1 driving 3. Pretty nice little amp, but they ran on the hot side as the tubes were mounted horizontal, and didn't get good air circulation. Yours might be different, in the 1970s dozens of CB amplifier manufactures sprang up all over the country. Some of them used the same names. Several used the name 'Golden' and "eagle". They were trying to cash in on the popularity of the Browning Golden Eagle radios. |
