I bought a 50v 6800uf cap and put it in my Melaka today. The one that was in it was 1000uf at 25v. I have noticed that my radio is nice and quite., also it seems that I get a bit more output Was this a good idea.. I THINK SO!!!!! |

Oldguy im asuming this went in your power supply and not across you mike input. A large cap like that would help to flatten the output voltage swing which would increase output. How ever i would wonder if the surge current across the power diodes could damage them? bruce |

I got a 100,000uf cap 25 volt,would that work?It's 3"by6". |

OOOPPPS I left a digit out it should read 10000 25 volt was in and i replaced it with a 168000 50 volt Yes bruce you are correct> In the pwr supply Well i have not see any power diodes prob. Will let you all know Should work Bigbob |

Although the peak to average current into the power supply rectifier would increase slightly, the limiting factor at the CB radio would be the resistance of the radio power leads. I see no harm in the larger cap on the DC bus in the radio. |
