i seen where a cb shop was fined because of selling linears like palomar, that will work on 11 meter.it should not be his problem.the biggest part of amps made today will work on 11 meter.and i dont see why he should be fined.i think it is wrong,if the public wants to purchase a amp and use it on 11 meter that is there problem, not the seller.palomar, galaxy and more are so brodbanded anyway.fcc is just out to get money.they really dont care about cb shops or someones buissness.they want money from the people they know they can get it from like cb shops.i think it is messed up and wrong.also where does all the millions of dollars go that the fcc takes in each year? we the people dont see it or here of what is done with the money.the fcc are a bunch of ripp off artists. |

IT IS NOT A TYPE EXCEPED UNIT THATS WHERE THE FCC GETS THEM! ANY radio used on CB MUST be type accepted NA I WOUL'T BRING UP 23"S! othwise it's illeagal. In 1978 the fcc warned all dearler you sell them you risk the fine and set standards including NO AMP COULD WORK BETWEEN 25-35 MHZ. BUMMERS FOR US 10 METER GUYS! However as a ham you can build ONE amp per year for your OWN use. As for money the FCC dosnt see it it goes to the general fund.... remember the licence fees same thing. |

Bruce is correct.... Type accepted and approved amps stop at 15 meters. If you check the Amp Ads in the Ham Magazines you will note that they cover only 15 meters on up. Hey Bruce, good luck just found you. I am re Ameritron Ad in June 02 QST, pg 14. The AL-80B one Kilowatt has the following notation. "User Modified for 10/15 meters with license". So it looks like you can get at least 1 K with the proper license (Probably a General or Extra). DE |

All amps made today are "user modifiable" for 10 meters...you just need proof of a license to operate in that band. When I had an AL-80A, I just sent to the maufacturer (Ameritron) a fax of my license and I was sent the modification. This was before the Internet was as big as it is today. I suppose you could find these mods online possibly. |
