I'm having problems with the meter on the display of my 2950. Sometimes it works fine. Other times
the s meter and power out functions display little
or no signal. I've checked to power out when the display reads low and everything is where it should be. Any ideas where to start??????

Hello the Surf,
My 2950 all of sudden didn't show much on RX and TX. It just did it out of the blue....It never did it at random. Wich series do you have? Mine is a old model not the DX. I recalibrated meter as followed.
VR1 AM recieve meter CAL
VR2 SSB Recieve meter CAL
VR8 Transmit Meter CAL

Again these VR's are for older 2950.
Sounds like a cold solder or something. Maybe poke around board with a eraser pencil and see if it does it. I don't care for those bar meters too much. I'm going to put a external meter on it. Here's the mod link for these radio's....

Good Luck...........73's

My first guess would be the lithium battery on the back of the display. When these go bad they can play some funny tricks on your radio...Eddie

Thanks for the info. I'll try replacing the lithium battery and poking around with an eraser.

My 2950 has two AA energizers in it instead of the lithium. Its a small pain to wire it like that though.
