I know there are a few four letter words that should get red-spotted, and just the very appearance of red spots gives one pause to mentally insert whatever the worst possible four letter word comes to mind. The fact is, there is at least one four letter word that gets red-spotted which is along the lines of "crud", but with the last two letters being "ap". Why not just delete the post or edit it so the kiddies won't have anything to guess about?
It's funny how those who get red-spotted seem to get chided along by certain posters. The same posters who brag about committing serious federal infractions with their radio equipment.
Just an observation.
(forum master- I don't expect for you to post this, or at least I won't be offended if it doesn't make it to the boards for consideration, but I felt compelled to make the comment. Thanks for keeping this thing in line.)
Forummaster Note : The software automatically blocks any word that is in the profanity list. I think we can all get our points accross without using profanity. |

Folks,
we are making a mountain out of a molehill here with the red dot thing. I must admit, Bigbob was trying to clean it up a bit and I chided him a liitle with the intention of humor. It backfired on me and didn't seem too funny. He later explained why it upset him and I agree with what he said.
I had saw it in one view, (mine), of a great tool to keep profanity off the baord while allowing ones own mind to fill in the blank. Yes, usually a four letter word. I failed to consider that children may read this board, and being I'm not too sensitive about language, I failed to consider those who are. My bust.
I will clean it up myself, but for those who choose not to, at least the software is in place and effective.
I personally and publicly apologize to Bigbob for intially giving you a hard time, it was meant in jest only and not intended to throw stones. Your point was well taken and thanks for the explanation.
However, with the US at war, terrorist threatening our 4th of July, stockmarket in an uproar, violent crime has taken it's first upswing in 10 years, I think making a bigger deal about 4 red dots on an internet forum is not really necessary. Bigbob and the forummaster said it all.
That's my .02 cents. And to let you know how much it's worth, it cost 25 times that to put it in an envelope and mail it to you. |

well, i have been in the toughest parts of the nation and this forum is at the top of the list. it even beats compton california or even the worst parts of detroit!heh
just kidding guys but i listen to channel 19 and there is enough swearing and i get it at home and everywhere else, but its ok i dont even notice it anymore! so feel free to red dot all you want cause i wont care. lol

No, I cut and pasted a E-mail I recieved from Bigbob. And I will comment on it so as to clear the record. He apparently didn't appreciate me calling him that. And he sent that E-mail. A simple one liner that I posted before I made my comment. Now, There is a right way and a wrong way to approach someone on an issue that bothers you. If he was unhappy with me calling him that, He could have Said "Dear Cuddlebear, I really don't like that name, Please either call me Robert or Bob. It would be more respectfull to me." That I can understand. And would respond with an apology and a promise to never do it again. However, You don't just E-mail someone with the words "Watch it." If you want respect. You must also be prepared to give. That's part of the problem today. To many rude people who only care about the "ME ME ME" aspect. |
