Would jyd mean Junk Yard Dog?

If you look at all the new amps being sold today for the Amateur and Commercial Markets you will see that those ceramic tubes are the new standard.

Getting a hold of a new, much less good condition, old style glass final tube is only going to become more and more difficult.

I would not be too hard on the company unless they made a guarantee as to the quality and condition of the tube(s). That may be all that is left.

Check to see if you can convert to a more modern ceramic tube.

the "mirrors" you talk about are when they were "gettered"...see this post on vac tubes. Explains alot http://www.svetlana.com/docs/tubeworks.html

New tubes are occasionally black and mirrored right out of the box. What you don't want to see is a brown or milky look where the "Getters" are located. This means the tubes have been seriously overloaded and are "gassy" or have an air leak. If the writing on the tubes are discolored it could be due to long periods of heating from use. Many people look at the black markings on tubes and mistake them for defective. Only tube checkers can show emission or shorts.

you didn't mention you had a bench test of 60% before. My only comment was on the "mirroring" which is gettering. Some folks don't know that. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. GL
