I have a dosey meter (TC3001) and so far it has seemed pretty accurate. I have actually taken a brand new 11 meter radio out of the box and tested it on this meter and has told me what I thought to be a correct reading. 5 watts DK. Now you all know that I just got a 2510 and I am extremely happy with it. Well, when I put this radio on the same meter, it DK's 22 watts, and swings 54 watts. Now I realize this isnt a bird by all means but my question is, IS this possible????? I dont know anything about the internal workings of this radio as far as what finals are in it or even how many. Is this a single or a dual final radio? Has anybody else had this high of a reading on thier's?? Or do I have a fluke. |

A "stock" 2510 should DK 10w A.M and swing to around 15-20 with a good mic. (D-104 works well on these radios.) and SSB should be around 25w, 30w with a good mic. Sounds to me like whoever had that radio before you, has put a bigger final in it. It's possible, with the right final and the right tech in it, a person can get 80w out it.So, what you're reading on your meter, may not be far off. |

Hmmm, I'll have to look and see what final is in it. Its hard to believe that it will do that much power without over heating. I have felt the heat sinc after a long jabber and its no hotter than usual. If it turns out to be a stock final, I will have no rest but until I take it to my tech and have him put it on a bird meter. Well, now that I am thinking about it, last night the power went out here in Maryland because of a storm. After boredom set in, I hooked my 2510 up to the same battery that I rum my 55 on all the time and it drained it within 15 minutes. I could run my 55 on it for hours, so that right there tells me that it definatly draws way more current. Well, when I find out I will let you all know...Eddie |

Biged, the stock final is a MRF476. Souns like they did a power mod to it, in which case it could have a MRF497 in it. |
