Has anyone had any experience with speech processors??? What will they do for the modulation of my radio??? Also, does anyone know anything about digital signal processing for the audio output?? Will they really clean up audio, and allow you to hear weak station better...Thnaks for the help, Tom Shaw

i have a vr-9000 with a sp-1 and it works great.and they do make a diffrence if you have them adjusted right.you get mor audio with a whisper than you will without it.and they have a good sound.also they cut some of the negtive audio out,the peaks that are not good.bruce could probably tell you better than i can.technical way of saying what i said.

jyd is correct and barefoot they dont ALWAYS work if you adjust any processer such as the sp-1 corectly what they do is this a processer is a AGC board for your audio it adjust the gain of it's self to keep the output level the same THAT is why it makes you audio look so good on a scope. Now real world is a 2-3 db in preceved gain is all you can expect... not 20 like ive seen clamed. You can run 20 DB of clipping / compression on a prosser but this is NOT what it will sound like as far as loudness gain. Now barefoot on your radio they might have a very good limiter control and adding the processer dosnt work becauce your radio already has its own audio AGC it it. Good sidband sets go to great deal of trouble to have ALC built in the them ALC works the same way as AGC but holds back the RF output in the same manor. I have a old yeasu ft-620 i bought 26 years ago it is a fine 6 meter multimode and with a sp-1 it sounds as good as anything new.
