when grounding an amps is it best to go to the battery or as close as you can

Go to the battery with the + and - wire. Use the same awg wire on both + and - side. Eight awg will work. Try to get the lengths as close to the same as possible.

Try to ground it at the battery post. If you ground it anywhere else, it can cause a ground loop, wich in turn may cause noise such as altenater noise or spark plug noise or even worse, a noise wich you cant indentify. If you can get it to the battery post, ground it as close to it as you can. Hook the power wire to the pos battery post. If you forget to turn it off its no big deal. You can leave the box on for weeks without draining your battery...Eddie
