Jo Gunn antennas are they good antennas? And the DB gain they say they have is a ? mark hard to think that some of the beams have a 25 DB gain. And way way over price. Like to hear about them i know maybe some of you have them. Like to know if they done a good job for you. Thanks!!!!!!!!! |

We(Copper) use to carry JoGunn antennas. They were never really very popular. The biggest complaint customers had about them was they kept blowing down because their elements were so thick. |

Apachee Ill say it again jogunn should be ashame for how they RIP OFF the cb user 1) SHOW ME A 1 WAVE lengh ( boom ) antenna with MORE than 13 db gain DBD NOT DBI OR + 3 DB for "GROUND GAIN" DBD is the only gain that matters. 2) AUDIO GAIN SHOW ME HOW TO MEASURE AUDIO GAIN ASK JOGUNN FOR THE FORMULAR HA!!!! 3) GO look at mosley, mako, cushcraft or any other beam and what do they clame in DBD ???? 4) the rule is this a 3 elem beam will give about 6 DBD of gain a 6 elm beam will give 9 dbd gain and a 12 elm beam will give about 12 dbd of gain 5) YOU CANNOT ADD VERT/HORZ GAIN TOGETHER IF YOU HAVE 6DBD HORZ AND 6 DBD VERT EVEN IF YOU COULD ADD THEM YOU WOULD ONLY HAVE 9DB .. if you add 2 6 dbd gain beams together you get 9 dbd not 12 there are MANY good books by gordon west the RSGB and the ARRL and websites devoted to antennas check them out for your self bruce |

I don't know about all the technical aspects of them but a friend of mine has one that has been up for 15 years and the only problem with it is the rope supports on the radials has rotted other than that it works just fine. He said the reason he bought it was cause it was heavy duty. 15 years up and its coming down in the next few weeks to have new gammas and ropes put on the radials and he intends to leave it up til he's "Gone on to that big coffee break in the sky". |

Ok here is what they say for a 4x4 beam 15.5 db on a .3 wave boom ....MABY 8 DBD no way to get 15 db of gain real gain you would need at least 12 elements about1.5 wave boom about 50 foot AUDIO gain 20 db ok if you have 15 db of rf gain HOW could you get 20 db of audio gain ... if you could GET audio gain. the rest is inflated but not impossibal JO GUNN 4 + 4 CROSS TYPE: Horz. & Vert. Polarization Twin Feed GAIN: 15.5 DB FRONT TO BACK RATIO: 45 DB True SIDE REJECTION: 45-50 DB True BACK REJECTION: 45 DB True WEIGHT: 38 lbs. LENGTH: 12 feet (about .3 wave length) SWR: 1.1 HORZ. to VERT. SEPARATION: 20-25 DB WIND SURVIVAL: 100 MPH POWER MULTIPLICATION: 50X AUDIO GAIN: 20 DB ( HOW? ) WIND LOAD: 4.0 THIS is why i dont like jogunn lies and more lies |

What the heck is audio gain??????????????????? I suppose they say that the antenna actually boosts up the modulation or some lame thing like that. |

YOU GOT IT! NOW I WANT TO SEE THE FORMULAR AND HOW YOU RANGE TEST ? MEASUER IT OK JOGUNN PUT UP OR SHUT UP !!!!! People i hate seeing cbers getting riped off i know too many to think that there are companys out there knowingly selling thing that cannot work .... if jogunn thought they could get away with it they would sell a modulation gain meter! Remember if its sounds too good it is too good. Like PT Barmun said one born every min. |

IMHO id be happier (as well as save a HUGE wad of $$$) but just getting a good old moonraker 4 beam.... Theve been around since like forever and they have and always have had the reputation of being a -great- antenna!!!!!!! |

12 foot boom for a 4 element(hi gain) antenna what a joke! 20-25ft would be more the case. my 6 elem quad has director spacing close to the length of their boom. thats what about 4 foot element spacing, thats not hi gain territory. .20 wave - .30 wave spacing and id say ok. |

bruce. I think that those companys think that most CBers are all dumb and that they are gullible to fall for anything due to little or no education. |

2990 and bullet this is what anoyes me you dont see me treating cb ers as dumb even if jogunn thinks the ENTIRE IQ OF ALL CBERS CONBINED IS 30. Realy i like to dispell as much bunk as i can and try to give simple advice as to not lose someone new to cb or ham radio bullet you are so right 12 foot puts thoes elements at .1 wave not .2 to .4 like most books tell you but them again THIS might be the secret to AUDIO gain!!!! REAL close spacing REAL close LOL |

bruce, thier yah go it was rite thier in front of us all the time.....if you crowd a stubby little boom with elements so that thier effect has more to do with the beams weight than its electromagnetic properties the sum of all this is what must give us audio gain....and 20db's worth wow! just think how much audio gain would be possible if we used 1 foot element spacings on that same 12 foot boom....we might crack 100db in audio gain an awesome feat by even jo-junks standards. hay bruce lets get a patain on this before they steal this idea and take it to market..lol |
