Hello - I am going to get a new Maco 5/8 antenna. I am not going to run any more then 500 watts through it. Is there any difference between the v58 and the 5000 watt antenna other then it can handle 5000 watts?

The wire that attaches between the so239 and the matching ring is bigger thats the only diff ive seen other than the $$$.........
Shoot, a guy that knows his way around antennas can beef up a maco V 5/8 himself much like i beefed up my old penetrator 500 and my avanti sigma 5/8 wave. Just install heavier duty parts and hose clamps like stainless steel. |

Get the V58. If you are only running 500 watts it will work just fine. I have one I run a KLV 1000 through and have had no problems. Use the money you save to put toward some good coax and a good TVI filter. You'll be happier in the long run and not irritate your neighbors nearly as much. |

Thanks everyone. I am going to get LMR 400 and have a TVI filter so I hope my neighbors will be happy. I can only get the antenna's base about 32' off the ground because I can not use guy wires and will mount a 10' pole on the roof peak that is 22'. I hope that 32' will be high enought to get out of the neighbors stuff and also to get a good strong signal..

the higher & away from power,phone, cable ect lines you go the better off youll be as tvi and your rx/tx as well. |
