My DX 55's freq. counter is real dim compared to the channel readout. It also is real slow at changing freqs(readout) when I turn to a different channel. I know the older ones all did this, but is there a cure for all this? Thanks |

...could be a weak oscillator starting to go bad... either wait till it breaks and replace the broken part or get it fixed sooner ( your choice )...I would get it fixed NOW....GOOD LUCK BIG FOOT |

In most cases the 8 volt regulator has a diode at its base to clamp the DC. This diode goes bad and starts to "tunnel" (PIV breakdown). Replace the counter 8 volt regulator (7808) and the diode (1N4004). That should fix it. 307 |

Cool, thanks guys, thats what I was going to say the problem was. Yeah Right! Are these parts on the board or around the counter somewhere? Once again, thanks...Eddie |
