anyone have an idea what i could use for an antenna on my bass tracker. a buddy of mine and i both like to fish in our boats and would like to be able to talk on the river, etc. would a magnet mount work?

unless you have a metal boat that a magnet mount would hold to, probably not. Most metal boats are marine grade aluminum. Look at Marine CB antennas. Shakespeare makes numerous versions of marine cb antennas from 18' all the way down to 3' stowaways. All are designed as "no ground" antennas specifically for the marine environment. http://www.westmarine.com has some under the electronics/antennas/cb to look at or you can see these at www.shakespeare-marine.com/antennas/marinecb.htm Some other choices are www.boatersworld.com or www.boatus.com I have run the 8ft version before with pretty good results. They are not tuneable but most have set lengths of coax to maintain acceptable swr's.
