I have replaced my lil amps capacitors and wondered....are there any replacements for the 6Je6C tubes? I had them tested and the results are 85% and 90% for 6je6c tubes. (Tubes are old...originals from 1976) It does approx 190 watts peak on a Dosy 4002PSW meter.
The other question is, What is considered "SAFE" driving levels for these tubes? I'm using a Galaxy DX73v ( peaked, tweaked, and freaked)
that dead keys just under .75 watt and swings 22.
The dead key I'm driving the amp at is 1.5 watts...any lower and the transmitting relay won't engage...
Is this okay? I have the tune, drive, and load knobs set for max forward swing and low swr.

Thanks in Advance
Professor Base

p.s I don't use the tube that often...just to blow the dust out of it...my main stay ( when called upon )
is a Boomer 400...small time, limited to my small 40 amp triplite.

It sounds like to me you are running the amp just right, low drive will give maximum performance on the old amps. The 6JE6 and 6LQ6 are the same, some had both numbers on them and are a little stronger than just the 6JE6. You can find some good 6LQ6s on the auction sites, since your just talking about 2, that want cost an arm and leg. Yours are near 100% with that kinda output. They might last another 25 years. Someone posted on one of these links about the 'weak' sweep tubes not being any good, and not dependable, just made me laugh. I know of dozens of old amps made in the 1960s and 70s, that are still running the orginial tubes. I have several of them, so I wonder how long they would expect a tube to last, maybe 50 years. There is a replacement tube for the 6LQ6 that will work in most amps, its a single filament tube, where the 6LQ6 is parallel filaments. So it doesn't do as much, but its cheap, and they can be bought new. Its a 6JF6, about 10 bucks each.

Your tubes sound like they are in good shape. Most "new" tubes right out of the box don't test more than 80-90% on tube testers. I have tested tubes for many years, and you usually get that kind of reading from new ones. The main thing about tube amps is keeping the key-down times short on sweep-tube linears or running them on lower settings. If you have the amp tuned good you won't have to worry about the tube plates turning a cherry red, which will soon kill them.

mine are at 95% the old box sat for 7 or 10 years before i got ahold of it,my driver is at a sad 75% but i am going to get a new driver.beleive it or not my little box does not even get warm.it stays nice and cool 1.2 swr.i would like to find one more of these amp for parts or a good one.i traded a cobra 29ltd for this one.it is a easy change over to el-509. remove cathiod wire off of pin 3 on the tube socket move it to pin 9 then connect pins 2 and 3 together.(note)you will have to change the capasitor coming from the tune cause these tubes have a diffrent capasitence.
