Well, guess I need to show these youngsters some of my boat anchors. I have several Brownings, this is the one I like best, Golden Eagle Mark III. http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/scraps/Mark_III_eagle.jpg

Well, for some reason you have to copy and paste these links. This is the oldest Browning I have, an old R-27, S23. Its about a 1965 model. It has a few scratches, but works really well. http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/scraps/R27__S23.jpg

Thanks Steve, what's the old saying, small boys, small toys: big boys, big toys: and I guess old boys, old toys. ha. They are pretty well mint except for the old R27-S23, it got some rust while in storage years ago, but its in great shape inside, and operates like mint. I have two sets of Mark III's, one is complete orginal and mint. The one in the pic has the small toggle switchs on the front of the transmitter, which takes from the value. The orginal owner done that, but he really knew Brownings, it has high and low channels, variable power, mike gain, 20 kc slider, switchable pingers, and all that was done in the 1970s. I really like the old radios, however you notice a galaxy 88 beside the mark III. Those are in my radio shack, here beside my computer in the house is a nice Ranger 3500, 100 watt version. Those old timers over on the east coast really like to hear the old Brownings, I can key one of them, with just the little 50 watts or so Browning 180, and get lots of comments, some good, some bad, ha. Some say, 'your radio is trying to squeal on keyup." CB is not dead yet. scrapiron |
