Can anyone tell me what drive this amp takes? I'm using a Ranger 2985 and am only getting 1000 wts. swing on SSB. Catalog says its suppose to swing 1500. Do I need more drive? Radio is putting out 35 wts peak. |

what do you get on am?if it has a driver in it already, then dont,if it doesnt 100watt drive. what is it 2 driveing 4 ?or 1 driveing 4.if so just use your radio, and tune it up a little more one of those should do at least 40 or 45 watts. |

jyd: I am looking at a X-Force 412. Could you, or anyone else tell me how many watts it should be driven with? It has 2 driving 4. Do you or anyone else have any hands on experience with this Amp? I have not bought it yet. Also, how does it compare to a KLV-1000P? I have a RCI-2995. I think that this radio should have more than enough power to drive it. Thanks Maverick |

By your vague description my guess is you have the XT400-12 base amp. Maximum output of this amp is 1500w on a Bird 43p meter. Your drive should be no more than 2w carrier (preferrably less) and no more than 20w peak. The amplifier needs to be run from a dedicated 110-120v 15a 12/2 line. Some meters will read differently than a Bird 43p. I doubt you have a problem. |

I have 412 and I drive it RCI2990DX. With the rado power down.Key the mic.and turn the power up to 400 watts dead key. The 412 will pep. to 1200 to 1500 watts. Mine works good. |
