NCUBIT33, I agree 100%......there are to many "bad" operators out there.....it's no wonder so many people have gotten their HAM tickets..... |

Whats funny to me is the fact that he was a relatively small gun, in comparison to others. Phineas |

If the FCC is going to start cracking down on on bad operators, perhaps they should take a look at a certain group in the Phoenix Arizona area. They are on 27.555 USB on a daily basis harrassing and in general creating havoc for just about everyone. This has been going on for years and the situation only gets worse on a daily basis. I rarely operate there but have many friends that do who are not trouble makers. They are people just trying to enjoy their hobby. One of my friends is blind and has been since birth limiting him to just a few activities. I am not an advocate of the FCC by any means but this is one case that it wouldn't bother me in the least to see these undesireables removed. Granted, even in amateur radio we have our problems but measures can be taken to get rid of the offenders. It's impossible to file a complaint with the regulatory commission when you are operating out of band and these people who are the offenders know it. Anyone who has listened in on 27.555 USB knows what I am talking about and most of the language is worse than what you would hear on channel 19. It's sad that people like this are permitted to go unpunished. |

My question is WHY does CB seem to attract the losers in droves like it does???? granted there are a few good guys but the majority seems to be people that are either on some sort of public assistance, are into drugs or alcohol or are just social losers themselves..The when they ge on the air they try to make everyone else feel like they do then if it doesnt work well get ready to hear a lot of profanity! Anymore C.B. stand for "Cussing. Band." more than anything else! |

One thing to keep in mind... NOBODY besides the services who have been allocated frequencies above 27.405 has any right to make claims against ANYBODY else. It seems wrong that some lids would take over .555, but in reality, not even good operators are supposed to be there. If the FCC cracked down on .555, they would be remiss in not citing every illegal station operating there and if they were to show favoritism, the case would be thrown out. |

707 as understaffed as the FCC is i doubt any inforcement is going to happem... 2 years ago a " MAJOR" crackdown was forthcomming on illegual cb/ham users on 27.5 into 10 meters..... did i miss something or did nothing happen? |

RCI2990- you answered your own question... Social Losers. Imagine if these guys sat around in a bar acting like that. The CB is a safe outlet for their social ineptness and sort of a buffer and/or cheap form of entertainment for those who would otherwise be out on the streets acting a fool, or worse, letting all that garbage build up until who knows what would happen. Unfortunately for those of us who would like to use that band for hobby pleasure, there is not much within the realm of the law at our disposal. In short, nobody listens or gives them any credibility in Real Life, so they know for a fact they can always turn to the CB to get under someones skin out of sheer spite. |

Hmmmm...All I can say is these guys are DAMN lucky I personally don't live in Phoenix, I have a sticker on my front door that states: If your caught stealing from me, Don't run...You'll just die tired. There isn't an antenna on the market that can handle a well placed projectile from a 7.62X39. Or my .17cal(Sniper Mentality)...I do not condon violence, But these guys get on my nerves here in Southern Ohio too...But they do give good advice...Don't cry...QSY...if you continue to let these silly ignorant SOBs know how bad they offend you, there going to continue what there doing. Personally, I believe in the old saying, "You reap what you sow"...Can you guys even imagine the lives these poor fools lead?...What kind of "friends" could someone like them have?...Home-Boy buddies who'd just assume cap thier azz as to pay them the $35 they owe?...Give me a Break, I ran into one of these Rambo's one time, I felt sorry for the poor guy, But he still got the education of a lifetime...and I think I got $20 for his radio too....LOL...Anyhow, Just my Opinion

what i find funny is these radio rambos will sit on the radio acting all big and mighty and when you confront some of them they will back down like a whipped pup! I know one guy in a town i used to live in that everytime he started crap on the radio he always talked in a room with no lights on so no one could see him! |

Well, I was 10 when it all started. I always wanted to talk on a cb after I saw the movie Smokie And The Bandit. Man I thought I was a big dog too. With my midland 13-857 and a radioshack mobile mag mount in the rain gutter. Then a radioshack trc-502 Then my Imax-2000 then a uniden pc66a, this radio was great for me. Then a klv-550 Then a a Galaxy Melaka! Now a Moonraker 4! (goes up tomorrow) Cant wait! Its my first beam. Man I LOVE CB and you would have to kill me to get me off of it. Haha. And computers too, I love computers. I am pretty experienced in both feilds. I want my career in the marines to be in some type of electronic warfare or communications. How about all the rest of you guys, how did you start in radio? Taz |

Well i started way back in high school when a few friends pretty much made me get one!@ LOL I thought at first it was well, lame but after a while i got used to it and liked it! The first CB i EVER had was a GE help CB (the one with the huge orange push to talk bar) and a Cobra magna maount stuck in the eves trouthft of the house. Well after i got a job i got me a preident madison base and a big stick, then later i got me a RCI 2950, TX star 250, 40 amp supplier, A99 and that was the very first decednt station i had then!!!! And now it has gone from there......... |

Taz, I am lucky that I do not have to listen to those trouble makers in the Phoenix area. For me, that is summer time propagation and I am not on much during that time because of my work. Yes, I am familiar with some of those names you mentioned including Teeny Weenie, Chris Sweeeny who I once got into it with. I soon realized that you can't have a argument if everyone ignores you and no one talks to you. I don't waste my breath with these social rejects and if everyone else would ignore them, they would get tired and move else where. These are the same ones that started doing the same thing on 27.355 about 6 years ago and nothing has changed. With so many loonies in this world, I wouldn't press my luck if I were any of them. I saw all the violence that I ever want to see while serving in the Army and certainly not an advocate of it. In time, they will get their due in one form or another. I just don't waste my time with them, at least I have a life and a job and can pass a drug test, more than I can say for them! |
