A friend of mine just told me a story the other day. An old man that lived in a little shack down the street from him always talked on the radio. But he didnt have a vehicle, so he walked everywhere he wanted to go. Here comes the funny part. He would walk down the road pushing a wheel barrow with his radio, his car battery, and his antenna clamped to the side of the wheelbarrow. He said he did that for years!!LOL |

LOL. I once saw a guy up in Michigan that ran a garden tractor with a 40 channel radio mounted on the hood with a 102" antenna mounted on the fender. |

I've seen people with cbs on their mountain bikes, forklifts, and quads. It's kind of funny. Hams generally consider cbs "low tech". But with some ingenuity you'd be suprised with some of the things you could come up with. |

I talked alot of skip from my radio bike. Once I hooked a 300 watt kicker to it, put two car batterys in the basket and was keying on people with it. I rode infront of my freinds house and his tv messed up. It was cool. Hehehaha |

I liked to crash RC airplanes that were on 52 mhz we had a group on UNLICENSED people jamming the input to my 52.55/53.55 repeater. So i tracked them down to a open field in pinellas park and with 120 watts on 52.55 sat there as their toys fell from the sky. That was in 1980 just before the machine took a big lighting hit.... smoked it.I hope that wasn't a hint... maby they had HIGH connections. I feel bad about this to today.....yea. |

antennadude that machine was jammed by the hour in 1977 - 1980 when we caught up with them i had to hear control tones by the hour bursts but we got them dead to rights i even found out later where they got the stuff... a clearwater hobbie shop openly selling to unlicensed people because the 27 meg ones were too prone to be jammed.... the boxes were clearly marked you must have a tech ham license or higher to use this and i was repeated in the instructions even included a form 610 !.... the guy had sold a ton of them but only this one group directly accross lake seminole from our antenna site caused a problem. Finaly call the fcc??? please the fcc tells hams police your own frequencys so we did.... o by the way NONE ever came back on |

whats funny is my old CB neigbor used to run a Icom IC 706MKII on CB and this next door neigbor kid of his ran a RC truck in the alley night next to the poor guys antenna tower and beams. For some odd reason his radio picked up the kids TXer and it drove his radio absolutely NUTSO! He couldnt talk over the kid or nothing! So he just had to sit and wait until the kid was all done playing to talk!!!! LOL!! I about rolled one night when he was on the air complaining to some of his buds about not being able to talk because some kid had a RC truck and was "keying" all over him!!! |

2990 our system in 1974 cost me and my brother $1000 the cavites were 600 bucks alone i built the rest from boards and a 1953 notorola 120 watt basestation.BIG radio even before we repacked it into that 6 foot rack. We used at each end of the house 50 foot apart 2 DI-6 antennas at 70 foot overlooking lake seminole fla a very nice location here in west central fla. The RC 1 watt transmitters were detectable from almost 3 miles away... yes taz millawatters can go far ! and we had one hell of a time finding them because we got a reading when we got there they were gone... but this time they stayed too long ...Ive heard on cb rc radios and know like you people who had a kid on ch 12 or 14 with a truck eat them up its amazing how strong even .05 watts can be when its point blank to YOUR antenna. |

No 2990 I dont. And if it only takes milliwatts to key on somone coming out of a 1 foot antenna then they must be a mud duck. I am sorry if offended you. Guess I hit a little nerve there? |

No not really. I was just giving you a hard time. That guy actually could talk over the kid BUT he couldnt hear anyone on his receive. So it was pointless for him to try to talk over the kid. LOL. Whats funy is the guy only lived about 3 blocks from me and i could talk to places he couldnt because of the fact he runs a Gap antenna tuned for 11 meters and also i run a set of beams and he doesnt anymore. |
