Hello - I ordered some coax from a site and they had these for sale... What Do They Do? Will they help with TVI/FRI?

Ferrite Interference Choke
Two piece snap-together assembly wraps around coax. Removes RF from outside of cable. It is possible to make 2 or 3 turns of smaller coax. Several chokes will isolate end of coax for balanced feed (balun). Useful on mic leads & computer cables. Excellent for reducing RF on a mobile linear's +12V lead.

im a beliver in beaded balums they will help .... now to be honest your running coax what you need is 3-5 of the beads at cb you dont need to coil up your coax if you get the right mix they are very good at keeping rf from going back down the coax. www.palomar-engineers.com is a good sourse of information as is the ARRL handbook and antenna mauual..with lots of charts.

BRUCE - I have on order some LMR-400 Coax. I am going to get a new antenna but I have no idea of what to get. From this forum people love or hate the same antenna. I am looking at the Army Stick or a Maco 5/8 wave. You said I need 3-5 beads at the CB end. How do I know if I get the right mix? I have a Palomar Skipper 300 tube amp and a TVI filter. Where do I put the beads? At the jumper on the radio? The Meter? The Filter? Or the coax to the antenna?

GOOD QUESTION !! ok the beads go at the antenna end as for mixture the palomar site has charts on what mix is for what frequency you would want somethind working in the 3-30 or 1-100 range Mix 43 is wide band but go check and figure just what you want and need to do the beede are a choke they will RESIST rf comming back down from your antenna. As for a TVI filter most are good it neede to go AFTER everything even your watt meter my drake tv1000lp is 30 years old but it still works like the day it was bought i checked it on a sweepgen and if fell of at 45 meg more than 30 db way more than i needed to avoid any problems.
