I am in the market for a good tube tester. I see many listed here and there on e-Bay and other areas of the net....Here is What I am about to under take. I have seen most recently that tubes are getting hard to come by. So I am becoming inclined to learn all I can about the ones that I think will make me a few dollars.(money is not the issue here) I am not looking to get rich, just make a few dollors and make a lot of people happy to be able to find tubes at a reasonable price.... I am in the market for a good tube tester... so what do you think I should look for and what should I stay away from as far as the testers are concerned?....Are the Hickcocks a good tester and if so which one would you "Older Guys" suggest?
I have already aquired about 600 tubes , some NOS and some used pulls.....I will be posting them on E-BAY soon but at this time PLEASE don't flood me with request for certian ones... My friends on Coppers fourm will be giving a discount on anything I do for/with them...in regaurds to tubes once I get thing going here. At this time I am just wanting to know what some of you think that have used the old tube testers which ones I might be better off with?...Well Bruce is there someone kind that will be a better asset to me over the rest?...Thanks all,....~OHIOBIKER~575~ or *Trans-America 5275* Southern Ohio

hickcocks are very good and there are more you might try to find a mutial conductance checker they are the best and the hardest to find i have a heath kit with all the books not the best but it will find the dead ones.... sadly i no longer have tube radios but like my j-38 you'll have to rip my checker out of my cold dead hands....

I have one of the old tube ckers that you could find in hardware stores, it does it all. It is a Murcury, It has the flip chart and tells you what socket to use and what settings. Has a light on top and is in very good condition. I bought it at a yard sale for ten bucks wouldnt sell it tho.
