Relax and chill out, we all p-off people every now and then. In fact, I think I made you mad not to long ago. Don't fret it. It's good to disagree, just don't take it personnaly. I agree completley about your comment to Bruce, however everyone should be allowed to post and discuss here. Bruce, I know that you have been in radio for over 40 years and you know far more than I do, but in my 26 years of being alive I've learned that trying to make people feel dumb and constantly talking about how wonderful you are is not a way to make friends. I call'em as they are!

Bruce, I did not intend to insult you, I only called it as I saw it. You continually refer to yourself along the lines of the foremost authority on all things radio. I have read all your posts and I even asked you about ferrite beads and decoupling of antennas (remember that?). You answered in what I thought a smug response of "just refer to the ARRL antenna book", an answer you have posted to many people's queries. I don't want to buy the ARRL antenna book, I probably wouldn't understand it considering I am not a ham and I have no contact with anybody who is, except those few of you who post here on this forum. I don't mean to talk down to you or insinuate that you're not a nice guy, but from my computer, I get the impression that you answer certain posts when you feel they're worth "your time" and with others you just type, "Get the ARRL antenna book". Just try and look at it from my point of view before you send a virus to my e-mail, OK? I hope I can learn stuff from you as well as everybody else as time goes by. I sit here stuck in this God forsaken mountain for 12 hours at a time on the night shift. This forum is the only thing that helps me keep my sanity. RCI2990, please come back and hang out, this ain't no life or death thing. Bruce, I'm done ranting, and everybody else, if you p-off someone or they p-off you, don't run away, talk it out and let's get back to this CB thing,

well,everyone has there own opinion 2990.dont get mad if someone has a diffrent way at looking at things or diffrent veiws on certain things.most of these guys know there stuff, they are techs.there is mor techs on this forum than you realize and i respect there veiws rather i disagree or not.just think about how foolish your acting.i think i would be embarrast if i left a foolish post like that.but its ok,we all have are hard days and good days.take the good with the bad.you may be misunderstood sometimes so make your point a little clearer or talk to the person you are mad at before you get silly on people.you have a good day. |

triple guy im not jumping on you but giving you good advice from a long time radio hobiest the reason i recomend the handbook and antenna books which have been printed for more than 75 years a long time to get it right. It is very simple the people who wrote them wrote they with the idea that intelegent people like your self in reading just a few pages can obtain all the information you need this is why i constanly refur to them and They were witten for people like you who dont want to sift through 20 pages of advanced math to plug a radio in. Your post is worth just as much time as anyother but in that case you will find the books will give you what you need quickly and with out error... the people who wrote thoes books have done a much better job than i could ever hope to do. Superop you dont even know what a elmer is you dont have a clue about ham radio or how we think yes i have used that term it has a good meening and i am ofended by your comment go look it up and rethink what you said... as for ticked off i get that way ... sometimes... i just finshed e-mailing 2 people who asked me things from off the forum but did not want to get involved in posting it that is why i give a REAL e-mail address and name... yes it is real put in in a data base and see what you get. As for 2990 i dont have a clue how i figured in what ever is going on there but if you have a problem with my stand on antennas again you are welcome to go prove me wrong. There are thoes who remember if i am outright wrong you will see me quickly post a retraction... yes i make mistakes.Understand no one here is on any kind of list with me i want to hear your point of view i want you to challenge me on mine

Well i just had a bad day thats all i guess. One of those days were everything that can go wrong does go wrong.. lol. The pressures of work and living plus i almost had some jerk in a minivan run me off the road on my way home from work. |

no one owes me anything that is what makes this so good this IS the place to disagree 2990 ive been there done that sometimes my outlook on things gets a little frayed too glad to here both you and the van are ok... i drive a 79 full size cady with a all band ham station and 7 foot wips its big enought that most dont want to challenge it... oops used that word. |

guys i run a alinco dx-70 160 to 8 meters all modes in the car is about the size of a ranger it runs 100 watts except on 6 im playing with a 500 watt amp that i drive with the radio in low power ( 10 watts)Now the photo i sent shows a radio sitting on top of the antenna tunner that is the other alinco i have 2 as soon as i have the place set up i will replace that alinco with my ft-840 and ranger 5054 and have that radio as a spair for the car. |

I just saw all of the posts. I do not understand what is going on. I apologize for my comments on "O Brother Where Art Thou" in reference to the music. You know, you made a very good comment on that post when you said "To Each His Own"
I read what you say, and listen to it.
If you want to excommunicate yourself from the forum, that is your perrogative. Know this however,,, I have learned some things from you, as a lot of some of us have.

Watts help a bunch but if you wanna run 50,000 watts just go ahead and get your ham ticket.I can
talk to all the locals around here and some 15-20
miles away on 4 watts just through my antenna.If I wanna get WAY out there thats when the box comes on.If I talk skip...well it just varies,a box realllllllllllly does help in those situations to get out that far and a lot of times
is necessary to get out a long way,but it's NOT ALWAYS necessary.You don't need a huge radio and a incredible amount of power to talk modulation is the key.RCI,don't go.Everybody get's mad up here at sometime or another.Give us a smile.Show the big purdy yaller teef.lol j/k |

I disagree the problem is the running of power. most of the time im running about 8 watts and have no problem working who i want . Yes i have a HB 500 watt amp but i have a right to even then i rearly use it. there is a remote base in st pete it is up 200 foot and they tell me with the well thought out antenna on my car at 20 milles im HARD LIMITING even at that 8 watt power level and with it on and better that 300 watts they hear stations from europe tring to call me steadly ... of course i dont have a prayer of hearing them. THINK before you kick that amp on.

Give me a brake. If you or anyone is going to run 50,000 watts they are a small radio station. Right? Also the antenna that would have the capability to handle that amount of power will also have to have an awsome multiplication factor figured into it. So we are now talking how many watts going out? I leave that up to RCI2990 and the rest of the techs. I don't think FCC or any of your neighbors will have any problem with that kind of out-put!

Why the heck would you need so many watts anyway?
500 watts sure as heck is nice but my gosh if the conditions ain't right you're not gonna be able
to DX worth a darn anyway no matter if you have 100 watts or 5000 watts. |
