I just got one of these radios. I have always wanted one. It needs some work, which I am having done right now. But I have a question. I want a freq. counter, but I do not one of the inline ones. A Digiscan would be perfect, but they are super hard to find. So I was thinking I would try one of those freq. counters that wires inside the radio. So you can see TX and RX freqs. Does Coppers sell them? If so how much are they? I haven't got a new catalog in some time. And if they don't sell them, who does? I really need some input, so let's hear what you fine folks have to say. |

Sodapop- The Superbase is not particularly suited for a Digiscan. The band coverage suffers because of the inherently narrow-banded TRF circuitry. You'll only get about 26.500 to 27.800 with a Digiscan before it either unlocks, or the radio sensitivity drops to unusable. That three position CB/PA switch to the left of the channel knob is perfect for doing a little PLL02A magic, giving you 40 up, 40 and 40 down, and the radio will be more stable. |

us crystals rather than jumping the pll. no repeats and no skips except those on the dial already. just like the ham international radios, and other cybernet export boarded radios. cbc international has the big dimmy`s guide to cb book which has mod info in it. xtals, etc... check it out. incidently. true the vco will conk out after a certain bandwith, that cou;d be remedied with putting another vco in series with the original. yes , there are radios that do cover the full spectrum of frequencies with the digiscan. it all depends on how much work you wanna do to make it work. never say never.lol.i had a didgiscan i know.just remember to realign the tx and rx of the unit once you do install a didgiscan |

Well it has a crystal conversion with the knob on the side of the radio. It gets a band down and two bands up. So it has enough fregs for me, but it would be nice to know where you are without looking at a cheat sheet! Though the lower freqs seem to be low on power. But I use the upper bands anyways. But I have decided to sell it. I have a deal on a few 10 meter radios, and I have run dry on funds. So I think it will have to let it go, to bad. I wish I could hold on to it. But the wife says no more money, so you know what that means!
