How much should i put am and ssb watts at .Which ones do i have to turn down.Right now my RFpower control turn down does 15 watts for AM and FM and side band does 35 to 45 watts.Which ones do i need to turn down inside the lincoln.How is the texas star 400v will i be happy with this set up. THANKS JIMMY

Jimmy,

Set the AM carrier of the radio to allow the amp to dead key around 90-95 watts. I am not sure exactly what that would be you'll have to use a meter and adjust the AM power pot with the amp on to see. 45 watts on SSB might be a little high if you plan on jabber jawing for extended periods of time, you may want to back down the SSB ALC a little. AM Power is VR107, and SSB ALC is VR104.

with a whistle, tune ssb for about 20w. for the am tune for about 3w carrier with about 15w swing from a whistle on a dosy pdc/astatic. the am will have a little flatlining, but it will still sound good since the pos peaks are still nice and round here. you can go a little more on both, but this is the "sweet spot" audio wise.
