Does a power mic make your radio sound better?I have an Astatic 636 and I was thinking of trading it for a "Road Devil" power mic.Does anyone have one of these mics? Will it improve the sound and qaulity of my radio?(Galaxy66)Can anyone explain to me the difference between a regular N/C mic and a Power Mic?Thanks for any help that's offered.....Westwindwizard |

Any given mike can make a radio sound bettor or worse, depending on the radio's, mike's and your voice frequency response. Power mikes (for the power aspect) are useful with radios that have low modulation characteristics, otherwise the "power" part really isn't necessary. I often use the D104m6b, set around 2.5 - 3.5 not for the power but because the voice reproduction is so good. If you have a bassy voice this would be perfect for the galaxy, if your voice is tinny the road devil or 575 may be a better choice. |

westwind, most background noise is at the high end of the frequency response of mics. so the n/c mics use a circuit to filter out/"roll off" those high freqs. since the male voice is centered around 1.5-2khz this doesn't effect it much. |
