I am buying a base next week and have narrowed it down to these two. Galaxy DX2547 or the Texas Ranger 696F SSB. Please give me your oppinions, suggestion, pro's con's, etc. Is there a better one I should be looking at? I really appreciate your input. I'm a newbie at this. Thanks |

You may want to take a real close look at the Galaxy Melaka. I just got mine and am not sure what all it will do but you will definitly have more options;channels etc..,than with the others. Cost with mods and delivery is about $250 or so. CHECK IT OUT!!!!!! |

yes it blows those radios away. the melaka is the same thing at the galaxy 2517 but just without the swr,mod,and dual finals. And the ept3600 board is nice cause its extremely modafiable |

Good advice from Bullseye. Put the leftover $$$ towards a nice mic or something else ;) Or if you have a power supply, a 2950 DX would make an excellent base...
