Has anybody heard of a indoor antenna? I am buying a new house and they won't let towers in their development so I need to know if there is such a thing. If so are they any good, and if not does anybody have any other suggestions besides selling my stuff? |

Hey Mak,well, there are defintly some out there. I'll do some looking for you because seems like I've seen some around here (on the web) somewhere. On the ham radio site ARRL.com they had a article up there about a ham that used a indoor antenna in his apartment.Won't work as good as a outdoor antenna but hey it's better than nothin. Also,do you have balcony or anything like that where you live?If anything u could put ur stuff in your vehicle.I'll get back to ya if I find anything though. *Unit 168 "Timberwolf"* Eastern North Carolina |

well...I have pretty good success with this: http://www.dxring.net/srg.htm It's not the greatest for local, but the inverted-L on 11m gets out about 10 miles. DX is much, much better. It does as well as a good mobile setup. I also use it for shortwave. The VHF/UHF J-pole looks like a windchime as far as anyone is concerned, and works most repeaters within 10-15 miles. |

is this a deed restriction or do they single out towers? If there are any TV antennas allowed you could sneek up a small no-ground moble antenna. ....check PRB-1 to see if it might apply |

Someone made a pole in the middle 70s it looked like a pole lamp(with no lights), went from ceiling to floor and had an adjustment for tuning VSWR on the base. I have no idea who would have made it. I just remember seeing two of them, many moons ago. I think one could/should be made by someone still? The guy who had this one lived in a rental apartment and wasn't allowed to put up a antenna but being on the second floor helped...He got out about 5 miles or so....Anyone else ever seen one of these? Was it A/Specialty?...~OHIOBIKER~575~ |

I remember those pole antenna's, worked pretty good. hey, how far are you from Alton, Illinois, did you see this amp on ebay, he shouldn't have listed it under CB, they will probably kick it off, its legal for Ham. It's a Henry 4K console is how he advertised it. You better run over there and buy that 400 lb monster. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1332553933 |

I appreciate everyone's postings and I'll keep all them in mind. To Bruce they do not allow antennas at all but they do let you put up a small satelite dish like dish network and thats all.I have a few months to put something together so I hope I can get it worked out before then. Thanks to everybody and good dxing. |

Mak32, do you have an attic? If so, get the biggest fiberglass antenna you can fit in there. Put a 3/8 x 24 mount through a metal plate. Cut 3 or more 103"-105" wires and attatch them as close to the antenna on the plate as you can and string the out in the attic, evenly spaced and staple them down. With these radials you will get performance = to mobile with the advantage of height. Unless you ground that plate well, however, you will cause interferance on stuff in your house and close neighbors. A few coils of the coax at the antenna will help with that too. Take Care |

That antenna that looked like a pole lamp was called(among other things) a Homeing Pidgeon. You can still find them at yard sales and radio shows |

Yup they wouldn't handle more than about 4 watts. We have enough tech people out here that we should be able to figure this out. I can see an indoor Imax 2000 lol |
