Ok,when using a whip for a base antenna I understand the thing about runnin 6 gauge wire from a copper grounding rod to the connector holding the antenna to the mast. The thing I need to know is,how exactly do I attach the wire to the antenna mount??I've been talking on a mobil now for some time,I'm just wondering how you would attach the ground wire to the antenna mount.
PS:Another question, does a magnetic antenna need a ground?I know that sounds like a cheesy question but if base of the antenna is made of plastic how can it ground unless it's through the coax? Thanks for your replys.

Ground is made through the antenna mount (bracket). With a magnet, it is a capacitive ground or *false* ground sensed through the magnetism to metal.
Using a mobile antenna requires a *counterpoise*. Mobile antennas need metal around them to use as a *launch pad*. Using a mobile antenna as a base antenna without this can sometimes be a problem as there is no metal to react to. Base antennas do not require this.
