Hello. I have just ordered a KL-300P Mobile amp (from copper) and was wandering a few things. I probobly should have asked these things before i made the purchase, but I am pretty confident that it will do what i need, I just want to ask to ease my wondering. first off, on the features, it says 26db pre-amp. Does that mean it boosts the incoming signal 26db or that it boosts your outgoing modulation 26db? 2nd, it says "frequency: 25-30 mhz." Is that the freq. range it amplifies, and does that mean it can be used on 11 meter c.b.? 3rd, the input power is 1-4 watts. Does that mean i cant use it on ssb since ssb typicaly runs 12 watts? Will this do for just getting accross town in my mobile to my base through the skip (medium size city, 43,000 population,) because that is all i realy need it for? And finaly, how long does it usualy take to recieve the product you have ordered on line from copper from the time you place the order? I am very sorry I rambled and asked so many questions. I am very greatful for your time in reading this and i thank you very much for any feedback you can provide. Thanks again, Joe |

1. The preamp on the 300p is on as long as the amp is on, and it amplifies tyour incoming signal. 2. The input is for AM carrier. I recommend the low end like 1-2w. For ssb 12-20w. 3. It will help getting across town and skip. The #1 link is a good antenna installed and grounded correctly, #2 is getting the amp supplied with ample current and ground. |

ok. thank you very much for all your replies, and one more thing i am not to clear on. It says 4 watts input. what if you have more than 4 watts comming out of the back of your radio? Also, side band is 12 watts, so what would happen there? would this amp be usable for ssb? Thank you for your feed back, It helped alot, and i am going to register so maybe i can help people with there questions. Thanks again! Joe |

Just saw an inlarged photo of the amp and it has an am/ssb switch. how can it do sideband when it says the input it handles is 4 watts? or does that mean 4 watts is the minimum to drive the amp? |

Joe, Input numbers are for am deadkey (no modulation), and the 1 to 2 watt range is recomended. In ssb operation there is no dead key it is all modulation (no am carrier) your 12 watt pep for ssb will not be a problem. Just keep the am deadkey low. |

A Turbo model radio is best suited for a 6 transistor (2879) or larger solid state amp or a tube amp with a pair of 3-500z's or a quad of 572b's. |

that radio is just too much for a average CB amp that requires only 4 watts into it.. hes better off with something like a heathkit SB 220, Dentron MLA 2500, Ameritron AL 80B or something to the likes. Or a X force 60012 high driver... Someday id like to give one of those X force amps a try behind my 2990. |

That's pretty close for 1- 6LQ6 driving 4. That combo won't safely go much higher without hurting the tubes. |
