I just ordered a GIZMOTCHY 3 ELEMENT BEAM ANTENNA and I had been wondering if any on this forum would like to share their TIPS, TRICKS AND EXPERIENCE'S with this antenna??? Any help or advice would be very helpful. I have experience with the Maco 103c beam antenna and I have a MFJ ANTENNA / COAX ANALYZER to tune it correctly. So what is your experience with the assembly and performance of this antenna compaired with the MACO 103c beam.. |

What was the length of both your gamma matches for 11 meter. |

They work great with good rejection and forward gain. Little tricky to get the SWR set because the gammas affect each other and very cheaply made. I ended up reiforcing the base of each element with 1/2 inch ID. tubbing about 6 inches long to prevent them from rebreaking. DX is the next best thing to being there.

I currntly run stacked Maco 103 beams and they are built way better than the gizmo. Just reinforce the element bases and you should be fine. DX is the next best thing to being there.

Charlie you can see the lengths of the gammas by going to the Gizmotchy home page and looking up the assembly instructions. They work great but as i said before, they are cheaply made but with a few personal mods you will be fine.73 DX is the next best thing to being there.

It is bad cold weather here where I live. I will have to wait till late spring or early summer to put it up. I am installing a 40 foot tower on the top of the mountain behind my home. I will install it when I get that done as well. I did put it together here and adjusted the SWR then marked everything so I could put it back together again later. Thank you for asking GOD BLESS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS |

Thank you Dale, I can hardly wait for late spring to come with sunny sky's and warm weather so I can get the tower installed and the beam up so I can see how well it does. I will be not using the Imax 2000 . I guess I will be working the rotor to death. lol |

I am in the process of having my son weld me a short pipe that I can use on the back of my truck that goes in place of the trailer ball and slide it into my receiver hitch . We have some extreme high mountain's where I live that when you are on the top of the mountain all you see for miles is mountain top's. That way when I go there I can mount any beam for any band and communicate with the world. Especially when we have great condition's. I know you can buy the hitch mounts already made but I have plenty of material to make it so why waste it or the money. The beam I had mentioned on this post I will use mostly for 10 and 11 meter with my MFJ tuner. My radio shack is to far from the antenna on top of the mountain to use a 2 meter or 70cm beam there because there would be to much line loss for those frequencies However for the 10 and 11 meter the line I use has even lower loss on those frequencies . P.S. My beam when all is finished is 750 foot from my radio shack. The line I use is 3/4 inch diameter 75 ohm tv line that the tv company use to use for their main line on the power company poles. That was given free to me from the company. |
