I have sent twice an email to copper with no answer. So can anyone tell me if this antenna requires the support kit that you can buy separate. The support kit is over 100 dollars. If It does require it I will just get a Maco beam for less but has about the same specs |

It's not required, but it is recommended for beams with 5 or more elements just to give it some extra help. Especially for areas that get snow/ice. The same goes for ANY beam. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

Tech 833, What threw me is the company count's every element and then say's that it is more than a 3 element because it is vertical and horizontal. We do get some bad snow and ice storm's at time's . However I do think that the added support kit is a bit to expensive. I like the design of it over the regular MACO beam's though. I did not know that Maco made the Gizmotchy. By the way 833 I have had your help for a long time on this site and you had even sent me email's to help more with my problem's . I just want to take the time to thank you so much for your time and advice. So to all TECH'S here and other's. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND ALL ON THIS SITE FROM MY FAMILY AND I . KE8EWP charliebrown |

Glad to help. As for the support being expensive: Not really when you consider what you're already spending on antenna, cable, rotor, etc. Look at it like insurance. Is insurance a lot of money? Yes. But when you need it, suddenly it looks cheap! If you're getting the 3 element Gizmotchy, don't worry about it. That will handle snow and ice just fine. If you're getting 4 elements or more, I'd include the "insurance" policy too. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

Except if you get a lot of snow/ice. Then I would install it on anything 4 elements and up. Just for some extra insurance. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998
