Well after 24 hours, I can say that 60 feels no different to 59. I"m still broke and cannot afford to retire until 5 years after I die.

Got to work out a new way of feeding coax out of the apartment,as the renovations they did removed the small gap under the door out to the patio and removed the wall plate where Satellite coax was supposed to feed thru. I have a length of super-thin coax, but need to find a PL259 style connector for it.

Robyn and I looked at buying a house, but hit a roadblock - because we buy most things for cash I have no credit (other than a 8 month old car loan), seems you cannot get credit without having credit.

Robyn's health hasn't changed - still having uncontrollable collapses.

on the plus side I am on the right side of the grass - that is between the green stuff and the blue stuff, so life is still OK

Simon... Congratulations!

As for credit: It is not a measure of how you handle money, it is only a measure of how you handle debt.

Like you, I also pay for everything with cash, except for those bills where I mail a check. I own everything outright, completely debt-free including the house and shop. Have been debt-free for many, many years. I just had the bank run my credit score out of curiosity, and it was 810. So, even with no debts, I still have a high credit score. Why shouldn't you also? I suppose that credit card from my bank with a zero balance that I keep in the safe and never use? I don't know.

I use a debit card to rent hotel rooms, etc. and never use the credit card. Heck, the charges for the debit card come right out of my checking account, it isn't debt. I don't get a bill. Yet, my credit score is high. Maybe something is wrong with yours? You could always ask why it is so low.

You are 10 years older than me, so you should be more established than me also. That should give you a higher score.

833 - yeah but only been in America since 99. Part is, I suspect, due to the post-divorce bankruptcy when "She who remain nameless", didn't pay her she of the bills and they came after me for them. it also cost me my fully paid for and restored 79 MGB

Divorce isn't the issue. I suspect that bankruptcy is your problem. You didn't mention that the first time. Until you fix your credit, you're going to have to deal with it.

Debt is a killer. It ruins relationships. It even separates people from their own faith. Avoid debt at ALL costs! (Yes, I see how profound that statement is).
