I've been hearing a few guys saying that Texas Star is using the HG transistors instead of the DEI's. I'm getting tired of waiting on the "Builders" for 1/2 to over 3/4 of a year or more ! I'd like to buy a sweet 16 but I've been a little gun shy. I've never overdriven or volted any of my equipment. Has anybody heard they're going with the HG transistors ?

I have not heard anything. Texas star is one of the best reliable manufacture's around. I have buying their product's for about 15 year's now. I am 100 percent happy with them.

Yep I love Texas Star's myself. I have 6 that I bought new when they still had non red dot Toshiba's in them. Three of them are still new in the box. I'm wanting to buy a new Sweet 16 but I'm scared of the DEI 2879's. I was just wondering if they had switched from DEI's to HG 2879's, but I've also heard that they were both made by the same company. I'd hate to spend close to a grand and it sounded like a popcorn machine ... lol

whow --been awhile since i read this post i posted a comment awhile back but it didnt make it through due to a conflict in interest so a reword is in order;; i used to have a texas star 350 and really loved it,of course back then i young and dumb and had to sell it to pay a bill....45 years later i finally learned you get what you pay for... with everyone worried about profit and the bottom line i would be surprised if anyone hasen"t changed something to increase their profit not saying that is a bad thing as like many other things a large portion of the money is for the name and not the product,, im sure with a name like texas star and the warrenty they give you can be assured you are getting a quality product that will live up to their heritage.. if memmory serves did you get your sweet 16..

I have had bad luck with the new Texas Star amps. And even worse luck with their warranty. My First 667V I purchased years ago worked for many years, and I sold it to someone who still has it to this day. I bought a new one with the DEI transistors and it burned up in less than a month, on a base station running on a 13.8 volt power 75 amp power supply. I talked to Texas Star on the phone, and they said to fill out a form on their website and they would send me an RMA, so I filled out the form, and I never heard anything back from them.
