Hi KcKracker, Did you just put a new mic on the radio or a different mic on the radio? The mic has to be right for recieve to work on these radios and a few others. I would start with looking at the mic and if it's wired right. In these forums I think they have how the mics are suppose to be wired for the radios. Being a used radio a lot can happen. Like people changing out the original mic plug on the radio or people changing the wiring on the plug to match their mic's I have seen people do that. However, Smitty is right. You have to wire the mic to have receive on the cobra radio's. As far as your low transmit someone could have the power cut down inside the radio or it is possible to have bad driver's and or final's. I know some say either they work or they don't but I have had a few to drop in power before going out completely You mentioned a part's re-do. Who did the work and what part's. Sometimes you can even have a bad power transistor. If I remember it is located on the right side of the radio toward the rear. GO TO DEFPOM OR CBTRICKS.COM LOT OF GOOD INFORMATION. |

The power transistor I am speaking of is a power regulator transistor. In case this post is on here first this is in response to my first post to give you a proper name for the power transistor |

Charliebrown I think he ment he has a parts radio not a parts re-do. It was just a typeo. I agree with Charliebrown and also I have read somewhere about radios can be put up in the best of environments and have parts like the capacitors go bad. Something about the oil in them drying up over the years. It might need all new capacitors put into it. When life hands you lemons find someone with volka.

The 200gtl is suppose to be 5 wires according to this site in the mic wiring section but someone could have rewired it as Charliebrown has mentioned. He would know more then I would about this and if I'm wrong he should correct me. This site has this for the radio but doesn't mention wire coloring on the radio side. standard wiring: 1-Audio 2-Shield 3-Receive 4-Switching Wire 5-Transmit On the mic side depending on the mic it can be. I guess if you go by number on this it will get you where you want to go for each type of mic. Astatic wiring: 1-White 2-Shield 3-Black 4-Blue 5-Red Yellow-N/C Sadelta: 1-White 2-N/C 3-Green 4-Shield 5-Brown Tuner: 1-White 2-Shield 3-Black 4-Red 5-Blue Yellow-N/C When life hands you lemons find someone with volka.

It must have been changed and who knows how they wired it. On your receive on the back of the circuit board close to the center is a ceramic disc cap that is part of the receive. It could go bad. We use to pull them to add preamps to these radio's but I forgot the number for it. You might want to go to cb tricks or Defpom radio mods Another thing is since someone has been in it is they might have screw driver the tin can's in it and have it way out of wack. So many people are bad to do that and think they can remember where they started turning but don't know how sensitive they are. If that is the case I wish you a lot of luck. |
