Friend is looking to get into the hobby. Wants to know what's the best or the most affordable SSB rig for either CB or 10 meters? Any recommendations? |

I do not know how much you talking about on afford but you get what you pay for. The best 10 meter with CB in my opinion is the RCI 2950dx mobile Then for more power the RCI 2970n2 mobile. For base station the RCI 2995dx. These radio's do not drift off frequency this is very important and has many feature's. |

I agree with CB. The Ranger 2950dx may not be the most affordable, but it brings quality and reliability above all others in its price range. The HR 2510 is another great contender on SSB, but it is a dated radio, and may turn into a challenge if maintenance is needed. I own both, and never cease to receive kudos for modulation and stability of signal. By testimony, I understand that older rigs from Yaesu, Icom and Kenwood are very good for SSB. |

If your buddy has a ham license and wants 10/12m, then the 2950DX is tops. If your buddy does not have a ham license and wants CB, then the Cobra 148 is difficult to beat. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998
