HI GUYS; FOR the heck of it I built one of those 108 inch ground plane antennas, and put on 2 radials, with a pipe strap around the mast hooked the ends on angled a bit and tied off with insulator on each end. swr was 1.1 to 1. I was thinking of putting 2 ore radials on it, although I have not seen any info on more than two, I am presuming it should help out like a 40 meter vertical...any thoughts. WELL I put 2 more radials on, made my swr go to 1.3, don't see much of a difference but will leave on this week and see what happens.. cef 795 73 REVPO/DOCTOR/CEF 795 Wavin a hand from the cornfields of INDIANA

A quick note, I removed the 2 additional radials in the h pattern and just tied them above the all ready radials, tested the swr and it is flat now, so leaving like it is 2 radials on each side.... CEF795 73 REVPO/DOCTOR/CEF 795 Wavin a hand from the cornfields of INDIANA

2, 3, or 4 radials should be fine! Just make sure they drop off at a 45 degree angle so you'll get a 50 ohm match. |
