In the process of moving, and having had a full month to do so have been moving small stuff in the car. Last week I packed a shoe box in the car, inside of which was my Icom IC-706. Either at the packing or in packing end, someone walked passed and helped themselves to a rather heavy shoe box, and I am down a fairly expensive radio. However, the last laugh is on them, not only do I have the power cable, mic and bracket, not only are all details (including serial number - always write that on the manual)in the hands of police, pawn shops and local ham community (oh yes, it also has my call sign and drivers license number engraved in several places), but the radio DOES NOT work. It took a power surges a couple of months back and doesnt power up, I've just been too busy to ship it to Icom for repair. If some offers you a faulty IC-706 let me know, and check it for N7AUS engraved on it. Tech237 N7AUS God made me an athiest, who are you to question his wisdom?

Simon, I too will be on the look out. If You haven't already and being that the radio is in need of repair might want to give Icom repair shop a call and give them the serial number in case it goes to them for repair and I wish it would so it gets trace back to them. And if Icom does get a hold of it by all means let them repair it and send it back to the thief with a day they will get it back and have the police watching as it gets return to the thief and bust them. Then 2 for the price of 1 they go to jail for stolen property and you get your radio back fixed at their expense. George KI4NBE
