PSK31 is a digital mode: You hook your computer up to a radio. The computer does some electronic magic to the text you type in, then sends the signal through the radio, over the air to another station that has a similar setup, who then decodes it. Wikipedia has a decent article on it. Think of it as text messaging over the air. PSK31 also does well on low power. Most Hams who use PSK31 only use 20-30 watts. I would be interested in knowing more about the setup. I bet the OLIVIA mode would do even better. Most of the time you can't even hear the signal buried in the noise, yet the computer can pull it out and decode it with perfect copy. |

There has been digital on CB/freeband for years.27.700 MHz USB is considered the SSTV call channel of freeband, also you'll find a mixed bag of digi on 27.550 MHz. |
