OK here is the situation.

First I will explain the problem. Very little sound comes from the speaker no matter if it is in the 1st or 2nd port. You can hear a little but not much.

Second I will say that everything else works. Receive, Transmit, Squelch, PA, all of it.

Third if I connect a computer speaker to the AUX port in the front I get sound and I can hear all the people on superbowl in all their glory. But what I find interesting is when I transmit I get talkback through the speaker. I tested the computer speaker on port 1 and 2 on the back and no sound but it will talkback when transmit.

I was told by another person that it has a shorted headphone jack and bad capacitor.

This radio is a beauty and I want to get her back to 100%.

Any ideas?

I have read some other posts but not sure if they apply to this situation.

when you were switching from port 1 to 2
did you also remember to change it on the toggle
switch on front of radio.ive actually seen this
happen on a few occuations.try hooking up a set
of walkman style headphones in the ext. speaker jack
in back of radio.could also be a bad speaker, and
thats what id check first.it could have a bad capacitor at its age, but i think id start with making sure the speaker is good and the jack/wire
to the speaker is good aswell
